You know how we women are, when we decide to go for something we really, really go for it. We lunge for it, we fight for it, we try to fit it into our busy lives…but what happens to you when you’re giving, giving, giving and your project or desire isn’t giving you anything back…yet?
What’s a gal to do when she’s running high on adrenalin, high on hope, faith and she’s giving her gorgeous charisma out at every turn…?
…But also can feel her adrenalin, her hope, faith and gorgeous yum yum charisma draining away? Just not able to keep the momentum up.
And washing up in the morning can do it.
Not having sex in a long time will do it.
Feeling like there isn’t enough time to scratch your delectable derrière will do it.
Having the wind taken out of your sails by someone will do it.
Ha! There is a long list of what will do it. And it can start from the moment you wake up, and peer out at the day…
What do you do when you’re fired up by an idea, you’re putting it into action…and you just can’t seem sustain the mood you need to do it, the positive vibes, the right headspace to create it regularly so it’s spot on?
Insert a well timed happy break. It’s not going to seem appealing at first, it’s going to feel too frivolous and not direction focused enough. And in your headspace of going for it, it will feel misplaced – what a waste of time – high achievers don’t do that.
Well actually the ones I coach do, and they regularly double and triple their income, year in, year out. Because they know how to keep their energy up.
And the beautiful thing is, you can insert one of these happy breaks into your very day, right now. You don’t need to book me, you don’t need to ask me, you just need to try it and see how it makes you feel.
And this is how you do it – ask yourself:
What makes me utterly utterly swirl with delight? Is it flicking to you-tube and making myself laugh out loud by watching something? Or cuddling up with my hot water bottle and watching a re-run of Sex and the City? (Again – but I sooooo love it!) Or is it my chatting time, curled up on the couch on the phone to my friends? Reading a trash mag? Scrapbooking? Automatic writing? Naked yoga? Moonlight bathing? Applying a slick of red lipstick for me, myself and I?
What would flush your body with happiness and so give you an easy burst of energy for your project?
Big or small, it doesn’t matter, but it does matter that you do something. Don’t sit there hoping it will go away by itself with more work – it won’t.
I’ll tell you what I like to do – dancing! Dancing makes me really, really happy, so I regularly dance in my office between clients, after my day has ended and before it has begun. It makes my heart soar. And the funny thing is, even though I know this, I still resist putting a track on. The voice in my head still says I’ll just do this first. No. I’ll do my happiness first, which will cut my work load in half and give me that burst of happy energy I need and adore to finish my project.
