I got home late last night. But instead of self-love to soften my tired body, what do you think I did? I watched telly. Mindlessly. Something about bears I think??! Couldn’t tell you! And then I ate a bag of probiotic dehydrated cabbage crisps (?!) that I thought would be a good idea at the time… Um no. Let’s just leave it at that.

Gawd, look at the time, it’s 12am already – how does time jump like that?? Listlessly leafing through magazines now… 1am… 2am… pffft what am I doing?

Large announcement: You’re messing it up. That self-love of yours? You just messed it up. Gone backwards.

Am I alone in this? Have you ever been on a really good rolly polly of self-love only to roll back down that hill again?

Once when I was running a group coaching call, I asked each woman to share her secret shame:

“I mainline sugar like a pro.” Was one.
“Why when I’m already low on sleep with a new baby do I then watch TV till 2am?” (We’ve all been there.)

Sometimes we know why we turn our backs on self-love and engage in what I call “self-delaying” – delaying our real true needs. Delaying our real true happiness. And other times? We’re clueless. We have no idea what just happened!

A Dollop of Self-Love 

SELF-LOVE is realising that you’ve slipped out of self-love; And as soon as you do? In this very moment you have the power to turn back to love. It doesn’t matter what you’ve just done or not done.  You can turn it around in this moment with the smallest act of self-love.  It doesn’t matter how small that act is.  Just that you do it. And if you do it? It’s enough to turn you around again.  Get into the bath, hug yourself, kiss your arm right now. Honey bunny, your self-love can be turned back on with something tiny and easy. Try it. Forgive yourself for what you’ve done or not done. You’re completely and utterly worth it.

I know how hard depression and anxiety can be.     Thanks for this. Page 207 in your book doesn’t even need a bookmark for me as it opens itself there as I’ve referred to it many times! It’s brilliant and a great reminder when I need it. You are so wise and brilliant. Thank you xx
